Jeffrey C. Lightcap, Senior Managing Director, leads the HealthCor Partners team and devotes all of his efforts to private equity. Prior to joining HealthCor Partners, Mr. Lightcap was a Senior Managing Director at JLL Partners, a leading middle-market private equity fund, from 1997 to mid-2006. Prior to JLL Partners, Mr. Lightcap was a Managing Director at Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc. ("Merrill Lynch") in charge of leverage buyout coverage for Merrill Lynch's mergers and acquisitions group. Prior to joining Merrill Lynch, Mr. Lightcap was a Senior Vice President in the mergers and acquisitions group at Kidder, Peabody & Co. and briefly at Salomon Brothers.
Mr. Lightcap received a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from the State University of New York in 1981 and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago in 1985.
Mr. Lightcap serves on the board of directors of a number of companies, including Iasis Healthcare Corporation, Paradigm Spine, Practice Partners in Healthcare, and Access Closure.
Arthur B. Cohen, Senior Managing Director, is a co-founder of, and Portfolio Manager at, HealthCor Group. Prior to establishing HealthCor Group in September 2005, Mr. Cohen acted as a Portfolio Manager for SAC Capital Advisors from January 2000 until March 2005. From 1995 until 2000, Mr. Cohen was responsible for healthcare investments as a Managing Director at Tiger Management, and from 1993 to 1995, he was employed as an Investment Officer at J&W Seligman. Mr. Cohen was also employed as a Vice President at the Bank of New York from 1991 until 1993 and was an Assistant Portfolio Manager of the M.S.B. Fund from 1987 to 1991. Mr. Cohen is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
Mr. Cohen graduated from the University of Virginia in 1983 with a B.A. in Commerce and received his M.B.A. in Banking and Finance from Hofstra University in 1986.
Joseph P. Healey, Senior Managing Director, is a co-founder of, and Portfolio Manager at, HealthCor Group. Prior to establishing HealthCor Group in September 2005, Mr. Healey acted as a Portfolio Manager for SAC Capital from January 2000 until March 2005. Prior to joining SAC Capital Advisors, Mr. Healey was a healthcare Portfolio Manager at Kingdon Capital Management from 1997 to 2000 and was employed as an Analyst and Portfolio Manager at the Dreyfus Corporation from 1992 until 1997. Mr. Healey also served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army Medical Service Corp at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center from 1988 to 1992. Mr. Healey is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
Mr. Healey graduated from Boston University in 1988 with a B.A. in Biomedical Engineering and received his M.S. in Technology Management from the University of Maryland in 1993.
Michael Y. Mashaal, M.D., Managing Director, joined the HealthCor Group in May 2005. Prior to joining the private equity team in mid-2006, Dr. Mashaal was a Senior Research Analyst focused on biotechnology for the HealthCor Group. From 2003 to 2005, Dr. Mashaal worked with Messrs. Cohen and Healey's team at SAC Capital Advisors as a Biotechnology Research Analyst. Dr. Mashaal also served as a Biotechnology Research Analyst from 2000 to 2003 at Paramount Capital Inc.
Dr. Mashaal graduated from Emory University in 1994 with a B.A. in Biology. After receiving an M.D. at State University of New York at Stony Brook School of Medicine in 1998, Dr. Mashaal trained in general surgery at the University Hospital at Stony Brook from 1998 to 1999.
Dr. Mashaal is a member of the Advisory Council to the Lymphatic Research Foundation.
John Sailer III, Associate, joined the HealthCor Group in September 2005. Prior to his transition to the private equity team, Mr. Sailer was a Research Analyst focused on medical technology and healthcare services with the HealthCor Group. Prior to HealthCor, Mr. Sailer worked in the healthcare investment banking groups at Lehman Brothers and Citigroup.
Mr. Sailer graduated magna cum laude from Wake Forest University with a B.S. in Analytical Finance.
Mr. Sailer serves on the board of directors of Practice Partners in Healthcare.
Steve Killmeyer, Analyst, joined the HealthCor Group in July 2010. Prior to HealthCor, Mr Killmeyer was a senior analyst in the healthcare investment banking group at Merrill Lynch.
Mr. Killmeyer graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in 2006 with a B.S. in Business Administration with a Finance Concentration.
Steven J. Musumeci, Chief Operating Officer, was instrumental in establishing the HealthCor Group in May 2005. Mr. Musumeci is actively involved in the management of the HealthCor Partners. Prior to joining the HealthCor Group, from April 2003 until May 2005, Mr. Musumeci practiced law at Meister Seelig & Fein LLP where he concentrated on corporate finance, mergers & acquisitions, commercial banking, hedge funds and general corporate law.
Prior to joining Meister Seelig in April 2003, Mr. Musumeci served in a variety of capacities in the investment banking and legal sectors. Mr. Musumeci began his career in 1991 as an associate of the law firm of Rogers & Wells where he concentrated on corporate finance, mergers & acquisitions and commercial banking transactions until 1997. From 1997 until the beginning of 2000, Mr. Musumeci was a member of the International Finance & Legal Group at BNP Paribas in New York where he focused on public and private equity and debt offerings as well as strategic advisory services. After leaving BNP Paribas, Mr. Musumeci was a Vice President at Robertson Stephens from the beginning of 2000 until mid-2001 where he was involved in establishing the Communications & Network Services Investment Banking Group in London and focused on capital markets transactions, private placements and strategic advisory services.
Mr. Musumeci received a B.A. in Economics from Boston College in 1988 and a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 1991.
John Coghlin, General Counsel, joined the HealthCor Group in July 2007. In his capacity as General Counsel, Mr. Coghlin advises the HealthCor Group on deal structures, transactional documentation, regulatory compliance, and day-to-day legal and risk management issues.
Prior to joining HealthCor Group, Mr. Coghlin served as a Senior Vice President of Citizens Financial Group ("CFG"), a top 10 U.S. commercial banking company, with $162 billion in total assets. At CFG, Mr. Coghlin served as General Counsel and Senior Risk Manager of the enterprise technology and operations division. Prior to joining CFG, Mr. Coghlin served in a variety of capacities in the Legal and Private Equity sectors. Mr. Coghlin began his career in 1991 as an associate at Rogers & Wells where he practiced corporate law focusing on cross-border finance. Mr. Coghlin left the law firm in 1994 to become general counsel of a private international holding company and from there served as a principal at CIBC Capital Partners and MMC Capital. Mr. Coghlin's legal and private equity experience involved originating, structuring, and negotiating a wide variety of transactions including: Corporate Securities, Mergers & Acquisitions, Leveraged Buy-Outs, Merchant Banking and Venture Capital.
After graduating magna cum laude from Tufts University in 1988, Mr. Coghlin attended Boston College Law School where he graduated in 1991 as a member of the International and Comparative Law Review.
